Today’s ‘Guest writer’ us Joan Byrne, who shares her testimony with us.

The day of my salvation - The Lord is so good

It all started with my children, they started going to Sunday School at an Elim Church and they loved it. On special days like Mother’s Day and Easter time I was invited to go to the services and when I went the people were so nice and I thought ‘I want some of that!’ I did not quite know what it was but I knew it was good and when I heard the gospel preached, I knew what I had to do. I gave my heart to the Lord. It was the best thing I have done.

Before then I had just gone through a divorce so I was quite low in myself but the Lord lifted me up out of all that. I was worried, having five children on my own - but the Lord changed all that. I no longer felt alone, He was always with me  - my life changed for the good and he met all my needs.

All my children came to know the Lord which is very good. I came to know the Lord 1980 and in 1981 we all got baptised together which was wonderful. My Baptism promise was psalm34.v10

‘for those who seek the lord lack no good thing.’

The Lord has surely kept his promise to me, I don’t know how I could manage without the Lord in my life. I never feel alone - praise the Lord

I like the hymn Amazing Grace; how true it is that we are only saved by His wonderful grace.

May God bless you all – Joan

Amazing grace, how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me

I once was lost, but now I'm found, was blind, but now I see

'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear and grace my fears relieved

How precious did that grace appear, the hour I first believed

Through many dangers, toils and snares, I have already come;

‘tis grace has brought me safe this far, and grace will lead me home.

When we’ve been there ten thousand years, bright shining as the sun,

We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise than when we’ve first begun.

(John Newton 1725-1807)
